HARVEY FRANCIS CARTER, SR.
October 26, 1943 - April 16, 2003

Harvey Francis Carter Sr., 59, an operator at Baker Oil Tool Co., died April 16, 2003, of a heart attack while he was at work.

Husband of Patricia Talbert Carter, Son of Elizabeth Flynn Carter and the late Harvey Dee "Skeeter" Carter. Father of Stacey Carter Melling and Harvey Francis Carter, Jr. Father-in-law of Christopher Melling and T.J. Carter. Grandfather of Jacob Tyler Carter, Kaitlin Marie Carter and Abigail Elizabeth Melling. Brother of Diane Carter Michel and Cecilia Carter Fraschillo. Brother-in-law of Gary Michel, Dr. Tom Fraschillo, Virginia Barrios, John Barrios and Glen Talbert. Uncle of Christopher & Becky Michel and Thomas Fraschillo. Nephew of Pauline Carter Britt, Mary Flynn, Frank Flynn, Ed Flynn, the late Ollie Mae Carter Lemons, the late Cecil Franklin "Junior" Carter, Jr., and the late Cecil Foster Carter.

Harvey was born in Oakland, CA, and lived in Buras since he was 2 years old. He attended the Franciscan Seminary in Cincinnati, graduated from Buras High School in 1961, and attended Louisiana State University. He was a sergeant in the Air Force and served much of his Air Force time at Kadina Air Force Base, Okinawa.

Harvey was a musician, learned guitar from his father when he was a child and played bass at many locations in Plaquemines parish including The Old Rex, Emile's, The Black Velvet, and The Buras Saloon.

He also leaves behind his long time friend, Roscoe, and two ex wives, with whom he remained friends.

A Mass was held 4/21/03 at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Louisiana Hwy. 23, Belle Chasse. Visitation began at 9am. Burial was in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery near his father.
